As we approach a very busy time in our musical calendars, please take a minute to note the special concerts in our area of the state of Michigan. I find it refreshing and relaxing to be an audience member rather than bearing full responsibility for all aspects of a choral performance. There are numerous opportunities for such an experience. Not only are we enjoying other concerts, but also we are supporting our choral colleagues.
After a successful state conference in Flint in October, we are now setting our sights on the Divisional Conference in Cincinnati on February 26 – March 1. Ann Arbor Pioneer A Cappella Choir, University of Michigan Women’s Glee Club, Michigan State University Women’s Chamber Ensemble, Miami University Men’s Glee Club will be among the many performing groups. Interest sessions on sight singing, performance of multi-cultural music, and reading sessions will be offered throughout the conference with Vocal Essence being the headliner choir on Friday night of the conference. Online registration is now open at www.acda.org
As your District Representative I hope you will send me information about your future performances so that we are all aware of what our choral colleagues are doing.
May you enjoy this beautiful season of the year – a time made even more beautiful and meaningful by the special music included in so many celebrations.
I hope to see you in Cincinnati.
All the best to you always,
Ellen Pool
