Betsy Marsh, Bella Voce editor, enjoys working with singers of all ages. After 36 years in public education, she recently retired from Van Hoosen Middle School in Rochester Hills, MI. Ensembles under her direction consistently earned superior ratings, performing with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, at the Michigan Music Conference, and at the Michigan Summer Choral Directors Workshop.
A private voice teacher, adjudicator and clinician, she is currently the director of the Macomb Children’s Chorus Troubadours and Associate Director at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rochester. As Associate Director of the Madrigal Chorale of Southfield, she has conducted the group on two European tours, two White House performances and at the 2010 ACDA-MI Conference.
Betsy earned a BA in Voice Performance from Albion College and a MM in choral conducting from Oakland University, where she served as assistant to Dr. Michael A. Mitchell.
She was honored to direct two MSVMA 7-8-9 SATB Honors Choirs, and has served on the faculties of Adrian College and the Center for Creative Studies. She was named Rochester Middle School Teacher of the Year in 1996 and 2003 and was a finalist for MSVMA Teacher of the Year. She was also Central Division Junior High R & S Chair.
Betsy enjoys painting and shares her love of music with husband, Peter and daughter, Darcy.
